Mass and Energy

The number of members registered to this site is increasing rapidly and I just wanted to post an announcement regarding the status of the site. Plans have been made to make several new additions to the site.

I found this interesting mapping tool that combines the OECD data regarding things like GDP and Population:

I want to find or make something like this that is capable of tracking mass and energy. I will be searching the DOE and IEA sites to see what I can find.

I have made it one of my goals to try and track the ways in which we utilize the mass and energy here on earth. All throughout industry we plunder the earth in order to find natural resources that are of value to us. As a chemical engineer I am quite familiar with the ways in which we can turn seemingly useless materials into valuable commodities; it is also apparent how important it is to keep track of these resources to the best of our abilities to better understand the human impact on earth.
